Hello! I hope you are all doing very well. I had an amazing weekend, mixing a satsang with Adyashanti, a deep cry at the traveling memorial for the U.S. soldiers and civilians who have died in Iraq at Civic Center, Eyes Wide Open, and then a rowdy and short visit to the Anarchist Bookfair to catch Ward Churchill and meet some new folks. Just my cup of tea for a Saturday!
It was so moving seeing the installation of 1,528 boots in front of Civic Center representing the lives of the soldiers lost in Iraq since 2003. There were parents from some of the soldiers there and they read all of the names, I just wept and meditated for a few hours, it was really powerful. I thought of everyone I know and I wished they could have been there. I bought a documentary of the memorial in Santa Monica called Arlington West to show for the Global Awareness Forum this week. It is basically lots of brief interviews on people's thoughts and reactions to the growing number of crosses that honor the fallen U.S. soldiers on the beach. Its about an hour, plenty of time for discussion and a prayer/meditation circle to end the evening. Please bring a dish for the potluck and RSVP if you wish to attend. I will be posting the next few in advance so you can put them in your calendar! I will need to change them to Tuesdays for awhile so the next two are on Tuesday April 12th and Tuesday April 26th. I am thinking of showing a talk with various speakers on nuclear weapons redevelopment and a powerful speech from Cornell West on race relations, politics, culture, etc. I am hoping to get my copy of The Corporation from my KPFA donation soon and show that. Any suggestions of things you would like to see is welcome! If you have anything to share let me know. Also, please bring a $5 donation as I need to cover the cost of the films and CDs I have purchased to share.
